ABOUT WHITNEY
PIER SOCCER
The Whitney Pier Soccer Club is a
non-profit organization of volunteers. We are dedicated to promoting the
sport of soccer. Our mission is to create and provide for our members of
all ages and all skill levels, the opportunity to play soccer for their
enjoyment, for their improvement, and for the improvement of the game in
an atmosphere in which our players support each other. We encourage and
expect our members and players to respect their opponents, coaches,
managers and officials and to exhibit good sportsmanship and fair play.
IMPORTANT
NOTICE !
We have just posted our schedules
for the upcoming 2004 summer soccer season. Click on the Schedules link
on the upper left-hand side of this page to view the dates and times. Thank
you.
Uniform Return
Since its inception, Whitney Pier Soccer has given
priority to keeping the cost of participating as low as possible.
However, the cost of replacing lost equipment and uniforms has remained
high.
Consequently, we have
been obliged to require a $10.00 deposit on all uniforms, payable at
registration. This deposit will be refunded to you when the uniforms are
returned to our staff on the given dates.
Everyone can help limit
these losses by:
a) Ensuring that
your uniform is returned to Whitney Pier Soccer on collection day. Your
coaches will inform you of the date, time, and place for uniform
collection. Your deposit will be returned at that time.
b) Help watch your
team's equipment, especially when the coach is coaching. See that all
balls are retrieved from the surrounding areas.
c) Coaches please
DO NOT forget: Equipment and balls are to be returned to Whitney Pier
Soccer Equipment Manager at the set return dates only!
Every little bit helps.
Thanks for your co-operation!
Tier 2 Dress Regulations
Shin guards are
mandatory and should be covered by socks that fully cover the shin
guards. Cleats are required by all tier 2 players. As stated in our
club's constitution, all players
are OBLIGATED
to wear our club colors whenever they are representing the club. We provide the jersey and the
players are responsible for providing their own " ROYAL
BLUE "
shorts and socks. Coaches and Referees, at their discretion, may prevent
you from playing while wearing other colors. Players wearing any
type of jewelry are asked to remove it prior to game time. Medic-Alert
bracelets and necklaces are permitted only if they are taped down.
Goalkeepers must wear a shirt that clearly distinguishes them from the
other players on the field. Hair clips and caps are not permitted,
however, elastic hair ties, scrunches, and sweatbands are. On days when
the sun is a factor goalkeepers are permitted to wear a cap or visor.
What equipment
do I need to play soccer?
The sport of soccer actually requires
very little equipment. The cost of equipment is also very economical.
The soccer "KIT" should include:
- Shin guards (mandatory)
- Cleats (mandatory for Tier
2 players)
- Jersey (provided by club)
- Shorts (provided by club for mini
players)
- Socks (provided by club for mini
players)
- Water Bottle (mandatory)
- Soccer Ball (optional)
- Tier 2 Players must provide their
own royal blue shorts and socks

FROM THE EXECUTIVE
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for yet
another successful season in 2003. We are really excited about this upcoming
season and we hope to do as just as well, if not better than this past
season. This year's registration went very well and we thank all of you
for your support.
We would like to thank all of the
players who have registered with us from outside of the Whitney Pier
area, both past and present. We would like to think that our skill development program and our
coaching staff are responsible for players outside of our immediate area
wanting to play for our club. We strive to develop quality skilled
players. This becomes evident with the Cape Breton Selects Program. Our
former players, past and present, continue to represent us well at this
level.
We would especially like to thank all of our volunteer
coaching staff, all
of the volunteers outside of our organization, the parents who help out and get the kids to the fields, and finally all
the players who were registered with our club last year.
We look forward to spending the
summer with all of you again this year.
Signed,
The Executive
